Michelle “MJ” Ashford
CEO and Editor
Michelle “MJ” Ashford is the CEO/Writer/Editor of Cannabis Chronicles Magazine. Based out of Southeastern Oklahoma, Cannabis Chronicles was founded by MJ with the first Chronicle launched in August 2019. Michelle received her bachelor’s degree in counseling services to the Deaf from East Central University in 1991 and later received her Master’s in Counseling in 2011. Michelle is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Oklahoma and has been in the Counseling field since 2005. MJ is also a Holy Fire/Usui Reiki Practitioner and Ordained Minister.
Since the early ’90s, Michelle started smoking Cannabis and has not stopped since. With all the legal implications, and even facing felony charges at one point, Michelle still took the risk of smoking to help with her medical needs. At that time, Michelle became an advocate for Cannabis. MJ served on the OG Fest Board and played a major role in the coordination and planning of Oklahoma’s first Cannabis Grow Cup “OG FEST 2019” that helped bring patients together to celebrate the end of prohibition for Cannabis.
MJ’s goal with the magazine is to provide a platform for the voices of the patients in the state of Oklahoma, however, popularity with the magazine is reaching patients and activists from across the country who want to share their story. Cannabis Chronicles is not Oklahoma’s first Cannabis-related magazine, but it is the first magazine by the people, for the people. Giving patients and activists a place to share their stories and get the recognition and support they need.

Webmaster and Editor
I am a peace-loving hippy, a long-time user of cannabis, and an advocate for the medical use of cannabis. I also believe in the power of psychedelics and nootropics in the treatment of mental illnesses as well as for general self-reprogramming of the human brain. I use medical cannabis to manage anxiety as well as for general pain management as I have gotten older. I firmly believe in the power of cannabis as medicine and it is my hope that this website will help to educate, inform, and entertain people.
I was arrested in 1997 for trafficking LSD, and spent several years on probation when all was said and done. It is for this reason that I have typically been pretty quiet about my cannabis use, figuring if you didn’t already know, then you didn’t need to know.
With the legalization of medical cannabis in Oklahoma, I have started to come out of my shell and share my experiences more.
I officially met Michelle in October, during an event hosted at our local dispensary. I was somewhat aware that she was struggling with the technical aspect of bringing this magazine into being. Nevertheless, it took me until May to master my anxiety enough to ask her if she needed help. After a couple of weeks, I had a rough draft going of what eventually became this website.
It is my sincere hope that our intended audience will find this website informative, engaging, entertaining, and above all, useful.
