Pennsylvania Lawmakers Approve MMJ Program Reform Measures

In #Pennsylvania, lawmakers approve changes to the state’s #medical #marijuana program. The reform measure, which passed both legislative chambers by an overwhelming majority, will make certain #pandemic-prompted temporary provisions, like #curbside pickup and #MMJ patient authorizations via #telemedicine appointments, permanent. The #bill also increases purchase and possession limits, opens up #employment #opportunities for those with past criminal convictions, and allows for remediation of contaminated medical #cannabis products. A proposed home #cultivation amendment, however, was tabled in the #Senate. The revision would have permitted patients and caregivers to grow as many as 5 #plants in a secure location, and was promoted as a way to improve accessibility and lower costs. A separate amendment to provide financial assistance to low- #income patients was included in the final legislation instead. This comes as bipartisan Senate duo Sharif Street and Dan Laughlin plan to introduce an adult-use cannabis legalization plan before the end of the legislative session. The most recent medical marijuana policy changes, meanwhile, are being sent to legalization supporter #Democratic Governor Tom Wolf for his expected signature.
