Season 4, Episode 18 W/Far Away Guests

In this episode Wendy and Topher interview the following guests:

Health- Maria Chowdhury, Herbalist and owner and proprietor of Birthsong Botanicals.
In the Green Zone- Amy Mellen
Amy Mellen is a medical cannabis patient/caregiver, advocate & public speaker from Portland, Oregon, and living in Waldorf, MD since 2016. She enjoys advocating for other patients, teaching folks how to make homemade remedies, sharing her healing story at community events, and lobbying with medical cannabis organizations on Capitol Hill. Many people open their minds and become more receptive to cannabis as a medicine, when they hear Amy speak about her personal experiences, and learn that she herself didn’t even begin cannabis until the age of 45 in 2014. After which, she replaced over 40 pills/supplements a day & dropped over 200 lbs.
Amy is known on her social media platform as Onebeautifulhotmess, where she utilizes her pages to open minds, and help others understand what life is like for chronic pain patients. She enjoys helping to coach cannabis newbies, by sharing what tools work for her, and how she makes her own herbal remedies at home to treat her daily struggles with CRPS Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, EDS Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, neuropathy, Traumatic Brain Injury & more.
Due to pharmaceutical damage over the years, Amy has developed Tardive Dyskinesia (involuntary muscle tics), and also had to receive a pacemaker in 2017 to correct a Left Bundle Branch blockage. Both conditions make medicating with cannabis a huge challenge daily for Amy, but one she says is well worth it.
Amy’s TD has lead to an extreme terpene sensitivity, which leaves her able to utilize on 5% of the products and strains in MD medical cannabis market. Certain terpenes (essential oils) in cannabis are too stimulating for her brain, and set off her debilitating tics, while other terpenes calm her brain. If Amy’s shoulder tic is not kept under control, then the lead from her pacemaker will dislodge and she requires emergency surgery. Therefore, it’s imperative that Amy purchase her cannabis flower in local MD dispensaries, and custom make all of her own oils, extracts, infusions, medibles, suppositories and more, right at home.
Amy has created a Gourmet CBD Lozenge called Hot Mess Suckies, that allows folks to effectively receive hemp CBD sublingually. Amy’s lozenges are gluten-free, dye-free, dairy-free and vegan. You may obtain information at
